Our solar system has many planets and Jupiter is one of them. It is named after the Roman king. It is the largest planet in the system. It is made of helium and hydrogen, mostly. Many space crafts from the earth has visited Jupiter. Here are some facts about this planet.
- A massive planet: If we compare the mass of earth and Jupiter, Jupiter is nearly 300 times more massive. The Diameter of Jupiter is 85,788 miles. We can put 12 earths in a line to make the same diameter.
- The red Spot: Jupiter’s red spot is well known. That is actually a storm, which is going on for many centuries on Jupiter. This is the most violent storm in the universe.
- Jupiter rings: Jupiter is a gaseous planet and like other gaseous planets, it has rings. Saturn ‘s rings are visible, but Rings of Jupiter are thinner and less visible.
- Fastest spinning planet: Jupiter is the fastest spinning planet in our solar system. It is largest of all planets and it takes nearly 10 hours to complete a rotation around its own axis. This rapid rotation generates a powerful magnetic field.
- Jupiter Moons: Jupiter has 63 moons. Ganymede is the largest moon of Jupiter and, which is the largest satellite in our solar system.
