Leeks are of vegetables of winter season. They are soft texture as compare to onions and sweeter in flavor. Leek is known by other names as Allium Porrum that looks like onion and garlic. Two types of leek kinds are famous. One is summer leeks that are harvested when it is grown and other is overwintering leeks grown in the spring of the year. It can be eaten in three different forms: boiling it makes it soft, frying it makes it crunchy and tastier and raw form can be added in salads that preserves natural taste.
Some people dislike onion’s taste, they are suggested to taste leek as they are mild in taste which makes them to love it. Their shape is of cylindrical, having white small bulb at the end. Its part that remains under the soil is not affected by the sunlight and remains white as well as mild. We use them in soups and rice dishes.
