- Prevalence: Schizophrenia is one of the top ten causes of disabilities, especially in developed countries, all around the world. Nearly 1.1% of the population over 18 years of age suffers from this mental disorder.
- Patients all over the world: Patients of Schizophrenia are present all over the world. Nearly 250,000 people are identified in Canada and Britain with this disease. While the number is even more in China and India which is nearly 5 million each.
- Treatment: Anti-psychotic medications are given as a common treatment of schizophrenia. If discontinued, the symptoms can come back in majority of patients within two years.
- Schizophrenia in children: schizophrenia is rare in kids; however some cases are reported in children younger than 5 years.
