Crimes are associated with human history from the beginning. Some crimes have strong impact on human history and remembered till long. During the Second World War, there was a camp in Germany, named Auschwitz. In this camp prisoners of the war were kept. Here, we are mentioning some interesting facts about Auschwitz.
1: Largest camp
In Second World War, it was the largest and most famous camp. Auschwitz I, II and III were the main camps, while there were more than thirty sub camps.
2: Killing camp
It is famous that people sick prisoners were killed on the camp by using a gas and a specific gas chamber was used for this purpose. A large number of prisoners were killed in camp, almost every day.
3: Location
This camp was established in Poland in 1940 and with passage of time it became the main prison. It was an industrial area and gasoline was also available there, which was used for killing purpose.
4: Holocaust Memorial Day
On 27th January 1945 Soviet Army librated the main site of camp. This Day is remembered as Holocaust Memorial Day.
5: Jewish victims
Most of the prisoners of Auschwitz camp were Jews, so Jews remember this camp as the black day of their history. The commandant of camp was Rudolf Hoess.
